The project focuses on the expansion of the Toky Eder nursing home, for which it is proposed that the intervention be developed around the original building. The project poses the challenge of integrating the new building into the garden, minimizing the impact of a building of more than 1,000m2.
Another element that was taken into account when considering the expansion was the relationship of the new building with the original. The new volume tries to value the original building dating from 1931. Another determining factor was to solve the large difference in level that currently exists between the rear garden and the main access, currently the users are located in outdoor areas linked to the road since the garden is inaccessible to people with reduced mobility.
The proposal proposes turning the common areas of the building towards the garden, developing car parks and ambulance areas in the part closest to the road, with this we manage to keep the user away from noise and pollution and create parking areas that currently do not exist.
The relationship of the common areas with the exterior occurs on floor 00 (street level) through a landscaped roof and level -02 (garden level). On levels 01 and -01 the rooms are mostly with sea views.
