Las Llanadas House

The project is proposed on an existing building in a state of abandonment composed of a stone volume with a single floor and a gabled roof dating from the beginning of the last century attached to another volume with two floors, made of picón block and a concrete structure. , built the latter between the 70s and 80s.

The project aims to recover these volumes to create storage spaces, laboratories and offices for the use of the people who will be in charge of the farm’s agricultural exploitation. The farm will be planted with fruit trees of different varieties and present to be a benchmark on the island.

Given the dilapidated state of the roof slab of the two-story volume (corrosion of the reinforcements can be seen in most of the joists), its demolition and reconstruction was decided without generating any increase in volume.

The rehabilitation project develops a building with a linear plan, made up of a volume with one floor and a gabled roof attached to another volume with two floors and a flat roof. The project aims to recover these two constructions that date from different times and made with different materials, giving unity to the whole, simplifying the volumes and making them more functional.

Through a treatment of the lower level with materials of darker tones, it is intended to unify both volumes by means of a plinth that runs through the entire building. In this lower level, will also be located, all those activities with a close relationship with the work of the farm. On this plinth, another floor emerges where the administrative spaces are located (office, meeting room and service spaces). This upper level is treated with lighter tones, in contrast to the lower level.

Sliding or folding type panels are used, lacquered in the same color as the walls on which they are located, which will emphasize the idea of a continuous plinth when they are closed.
